If you’re looking for a fast-paced, playful tale of enemies-to-lovers that keeps things close to home (and has a sweet pet), look no further!
We’ve all had that one neighbor that annoys us to the point of wanting to rip our hair out. For Reese, that was Jimmy and his incessantly barking (but adorable) dog, Kale.
When a stressful week pushes Reese into closer proximity with her neighbor than she cares for, she soon begins to discover that he might not be as bad as she originally thought. In fact, beneath his noisy, house-flipping contractor exterior, he’s helpful, caring, and pretty good looking.
With unexpected twists, serendipitous moments, and a healthy dose of casual misunderstandings, Barking Up The Wrong Tree by Tracy Krimmer reads like a movie on the page and is everything you look for in a rom-com.
While I have to admit that Reese wasn’t entirely my cup of tea (I’m in more of a Kayleigh phase of life), I found the characters to be fun and relatable. I just wish the story was longer! I would have loved to have spent more time exploring the depth of the relationship that was forming between Reese and Jimmy. They had something special there and I wanted more!
I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy and unlikely pairings. And, of course, must love dogs. 🙂
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am reviewing this voluntarily.
Update: I should also note that I have, since reading this, managed to get my hands more stories by Tracy Krimmer that I am looking forward to reading in the (hopefully near) future. Her stories are feel-good page turners that I think made a great addition to any romantic’s book shelf.
