Charming, passionate, and heartfelt, Savasana’s Kiss: A Yoga Love Story is a quick read that draws you in and keeps you turning the page. With alternating points of view and a cinematic style, the story plays out like a movie and the emotional connections throughout make the characters come alive.
On the surface, Savasana’s Kiss, appears to be a “will they, won’t they” love story. Sean meets Alex when he signs up for classes at her yoga studio and, as the sparks between them begin to ignite, it becomes obvious that the timing between them isn’t right. Sean is married to a high-powered executive and stands to lose it all if he calls it quits on his marriage. Alex has a boyfriend who’s been by her side through tough times and she’s not ready to share the dark shadow in her past. But as Sean and Alex attempt to reconcile their situations and feelings, it becomes evident that the story is more than a “love against the odds” romance.
With yoga and New York setting a unique backdrop for this story, Savasana’s Kiss also dives into the all-too-real complications surrounding the different kinds of love we navigate in life. While the main plotline is centered on the exciting, butterfly-inducing feelings of a new romance, the story also goes on to explore the galvanized, storm-weathered relationships with long term partners, and to touch on the complex, time-wearied feelings involved with family members. It’s a well crafted reminder that love is messy sometimes, despite it being a vital part of life.
Additionally, it would be entirely remiss of me not to give accolades to the ending. While the story is solid from its outset, the wrap up of this story (the final chapter and epilogue) is where I believe it shines brightest. For me, it transformed this story from a good one to a great one. Without spoiling anything, the ending of this story is perfect – it’s human, it feels authentic, and it’s the right ending for this story.
Overall, this was a great read. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid love story that pulls at your heartstrings and sits with you, even after you’ve closed the cover.
